엔발리오 DEM에서 새롭게 개발한 첨단소재 Arnite PBT는 레이저 용접에 특화된 소재다. 레이저 용접은 전통적인 용접 방법보다 정밀하고 신속한 만큼, 전기차 내부의 부가 기능을 비롯한 최신 전자 기능들을 개발하고 생산할 때 매우 적합한 방식이다.

레이저 용접에 있어 가장 중요한 것은 소재인데, 현재 시장에서 주로 사용되고 있는 소재들은 두께가 지나치게 두껍거나 표면 조건이 부실해 문제가 되고 있다. 이러한 소재는 경우에 따라 레이저 빔의 침투를 억제해 용접 완성도를 떨어뜨리는 것은 물론 용접 공정에 이상을 발생시켜 강도를 저하한다.

결국 레이저 용접에 적합하지 않은 소재를 사용해 발생한 문제는 기업에 대한 직접적인 이미지 타격과 경제적 손실을 야기할 가능성이 높아진다. 따라서 레이저 용접을 진행할 때에는 용도에 맞는 두께에 깨끗하고 품질이 높은 표면을 가진 소재를 사용하는 것이 바람직하다.
